A few weeks ago when seeing my local GP. he informed me I was eligible for the new Vaccine Gardasil. At first I was unsure what the Vaccine was, as I hadn't heard the actual name, but he said it Will protect me against Cervical Cancer. I asked the side effects and he commented "The usual, nausea and the like" and printed me out a copy of the Gardasil info sheet. He also then mentioned it is given administered 3 times, and that it really just 'hurts'.
No pressure to get the vaccine but I wasn't sure if I should or not. After reading up on Gardasil, I have decided not to get the vaccine. It's quite scary what is actually out there that is not reported on; as it puts the Vaccine in a negative light. Do your own reasearch and form your own choice - Your health, your decision...
I had to write something on here when I saw the commercial. I was moved, but it made me feel sick. They claim you will be protected 100% against Cervical Cancer....
Fact: The vaccine only decreases your chances - it doesn't eliminate the risk.
From gardasil.com:
“HPV Types 16 and 18 cause 70% of cervical cancer cases.
GARDASIL may not fully protect everyone and does not prevent all types of cervical cancer, so it is important to continue regular cervical cancer screenings.”

The most commonly reported side effects included:
- pain, swelling, itching, and redness at the injection site
- fever
- nausea
- dizziness
- vomiting

Fainting can occur after vaccination, most commonly among adolescents and young adults. Although fainting episodes are uncommon, patients should be observed for 15 minutes after they receive HPV vaccine.
Allergic reactions that may include difficulty breathing, wheezing (bronchospasm), hives, and rash have been reported. Some of these reactions have been severe.
As with other vaccines, side effects that have been reported during general use include: swollen glands (neck, armpit, or groin), Guillain-Barré syndrome, and headache.

Syncope, seizures and Guillian-Barre Syndrome have now been reported with hours to a week after GARDASIL vaccination. For More [here ]
As of August 2007, a review of the National Vaccine Information Center revealed the following, quite alarming, statistic about this unnecessary vaccine: 2,207 adverse reactions to Gardasil have been reported. Among them:
- 5 girls died
- 31 were considered life-threatening
- 1,385 required a visit to the emergency room
- 451 of the girls have not recovered as of July 2007
- 51 of the girls were disabled
Update: FOX News January 25th 2008
Two Women Die After Receiving Cervical Cancer Vaccine
The young women who died received the vaccination, marketed under the name Gardasil, in Germany and Austria, respectively. The European Medicines Agency has not released their ages.
The two deaths follow the deaths of three U.S. females, ages 12, 19 and 22, who were reported to have died days after receiving Gardasil, which protects against the human papillomavirus — believed to be the leading cause of cervical cancer — was administered. [ continue reading... ]

Other things you may not know
There have been no long-term studies done on the effect of the vaccine after 5-10 or more years, and testing on young girls has been extremely limited.
“Merck has tested the cervical cancer vaccine in clinical trials of more than 20,000 women (about half of them got the shot). The health of the subjects was followed for about three and a half years on average. But fewer than 1,200 girls under 16 got the shots, among them only about 100 9-year-olds, Merck officials said, and the younger girls have been followed for only 18 months." [here]
The studies done on Gardasil were not set up to investigate whether the vaccine itself has the potential to cause cancer.
“GARDASIL has not been evaluated for the potential to cause carcinogenicity or genotoxicity.” [here]
car·cin·o·gen n. Any substance or agent that tends to produce a cancer.
ge·no·tox·in n. A chemical or other agent that damage
Are they told that Gardasil is a genetically engineered vaccine?
Australian girls are taking part in what is really a major experiment. Antibodies produced in response to a vaccine can at times mistakenly attack normal body cells. This can lead to autoimmune diseases such as arthritis and multiple sclerosis. Does Gardasil carry this risk? We just don’t know. [here ]
Hrm.
The bottom line: Don't get this vaccine just because your doctor/mom/sister/friend/a perky TV commercial told you to. But don’t not get it just because some aren’t going to. It’s your health, your decision. Do your own research and accept no guilt trips. [ here ]
